For the first podcast episode of femchord, we spoke to Rachel Chanoff. Rachel has been working in performing arts and film for more than 35 years. She is the founder and director of the Office performing arts and film, a NYC-based programming, consulting and production company. Her work includes serving as the artistic director of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! festival and the curator of performing arts and film for the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA).
We spoke with Rachel about appealing to the unique audiences of different cities, the challenges of noncommercial programming at the present moment, and the inspiration behind this season’s 25th Celebrate Brooklyn Festival.
One of the things we loved about our conversation with Rachel is her continued excitement and awe that curating these unique and varied artists is her job.
